22 June - 3 July The Path of Actions
Residential Theatre Workshop
led by Valerio Peroni and Alice Occhiali from Váli Theatre Lab
From 22 June to 3 July 2026 at Brogården Kulturvæksthus in collaboration with Teatret Om Ringkøbing (Denmark) and Ringkøbing Gymnasium
The Path of Actions is a residential theatre workshop with both pedagogical and performative aims led by Valerio Peroni and Alice Occhiali founders of Váli Theatre Lab.
The workshop is designed for actors and performers who wish to deepen their creative practice and explore new artistic processes.
The workshop also is an opportunity for Váli Theatre Lab to meet potential collaborators for future projects.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The workshop focuses on the actor’s dramaturgy, following its development from training to the creation of characters. Participants will explore scenic action in its physical, vocal, and inner dimensions, working with the relationship between body, voice, space, and imagination.
A central objective of the workshop is to guide participants from the “pre-expressive” phase of training toward the “expressive” phase, where scenic material and characters take form.
STRUCTURE OF THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is divided into two main sections:
Indoor Work
Participants will engage in psycho-physical training and create scenic material in a working room. Through improvisation and physical composition, they will develop characters using rhythms, dynamic qualities, objects, and scores (sequences) of actions.
Outdoor Work
The second part of the workshop takes place in close contact with nature. The scenic material created indoors will be adapted to open and natural environments such as woods, beaches, and fields. These unconventional spaces will become performance sites, encouraging interaction with natural scenography.
DAILY WORK
Each day is divided into two complementary moments:
Pre-Expressive Phase
This phase focuses on psycho-physical training through individual and group exercises inspired by major figures of 20th-century theatre tradition, including Stanislavskij, Meyerhold, Michael Chekhov, Jacques Lecoq, Jerzy Grotowski, and Eugenio Barba.
Special attention is given to physical action and its fundamental parameters: speed, volume, and intensity, as well as presence, attentiveness, and ensemble awareness.
Expressive Phase
In the expressive phase, participants work on the creation and composition of short scenes. Each participant will choose a monologue—either from the theatrical repertoire or from a poetic text—connected to the workshop’s creative theme.
With the guidance of the pedagogues, participants will develop original stagings, paying attention to scenic space, costume, objects, and the relationship with the environment.
THE CREATIVE THEME: “ELSEWHERE”
All creative work is inspired by the theme “Elsewhere.”
Derived from the Latin Aliter Ubi (“a different where”), Elsewhere is a poetic space where memories and dreams merge.
Participants will give life to characters suspended within their own personal Elsewhere, moving through worlds rich in archetypes and familiar images. Through body and voice, in relation to space, objects, and music, actors will activate personal imagery and connect with intimate human memories and thoughts.
From the outside, the experience will resemble observing—through a window—the lives of unique human beings inhabiting this poetic space.
